We are hiring, five new roles

We are advertising five new fixed term roles to continue to galvanise our delivery and governance.

Application deadlines for all five roles is 6th August and interviews are scheduled across flexible dates in mid-August.

Capital Programme Officer

Contract: Fixed-term
Working Hours: Full-time
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum

The role of Capital Programme Officer is integral to the work of the South East LEP team, providing much needed additional capacity in supporting the management of South East LEP’s £600m+ programme of activity, including over 90 projects. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the partnership’s formal programme management process, including assisting with effective risk, issue, financial and performance management, benefits realisation and governance.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with senior officers across local authorities, the education sector, board members, including elected representatives, Government and other stakeholders. You will need to ensure momentum in the capital programme whilst ensuring transparency in decision making and project management across a wide range of projects.

Chief Operating Officer

Contract: Fixed-term
Working Hours: Full-time
Salary: Up to £73,000 per annum

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the post holder will maintain and further extend the excellent work undertaken so far, and ensure that the LEP is able to punch well above its weight in dialogue with Government and Government officials. Bringing credibility in the field, the post holder will help position SELEP optimally in articulating growth opportunities and securing funding from new funding streams. Moreover, the post holder will be responsible for providing assurance to Government, businesses and all local partners, that this partnership and this area is a safe pair of hands for increased funding now and into the future.

Working as part of a small team with important line management responsibilities, the post holder will also be expected to maintain positive working alliances with local authorities, businesses, business representative bodies, HE and FE institutions, and all parts of central Government – contributing to the simple aim of SELEP to direct as much funding into the area as possible.

Governance Officer

Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum

This is a new role, integral to the work of the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (South East LEP) team. The role will provide much needed additional capacity in supporting clear decision-making, transparency and accountability in all areas of work the partnership’s work.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the partnership’s formal decision making boards; and for providing guidance and advice to board members, including elected politicians, business leaders, and senior officers across local authorities and the higher education sector. The post holder will make sure that all decisions are taken appropriately and will support the transparency agenda for LEPs nationally.

Reporting to the Capital Programme Manager, and working as part of a small team, the post holder will support the Chairman, Chief Executive, Board members, Government and local decision-makers in managing SELEP’s statutory and constitutional framework. The ability to be tactful and diplomatic is crucial to the success of this role.

Growth Hub Lead

Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum

Growth Hubs join up local and national business support, so it is easy for businesses to find the help they need.

The postholder will be the key co-ordinator between the sub-hubs, the Growth Hub Steering Group and the SELEP Secretariat team and will lead on the delivery of joint workstreams that will be decided by the Growth Hub Steering Group and the SELEP Chief Operating Officer.

Business Development Manager

Salary: Up to £59,000 per annum

Post Brexit, new funding approaches will need to be adopted as they emerge in the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) in accordance with emerging HMG policy and the National Industrial Strategy. This role will assume the regional lead role in encouraging the development of projects in line with post-Brexit funding policies. The focus of the role will be on the development of a robust pipeline of projects across these areas of inclusive growth, which will complement existing, and emerging projects and provision across the South East LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership)

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and working as part of a small team, the post holder will work with and support the HE sector, skills sector representatives, research establishments, businesses, national and local Government organisations and partnerships, with the aim of increasing productivity across the LEP area.

In all aspects of the role, the post-holder will support partners to deliver the strategic ambitions of the SELEP Strategic Economic Plan and help position SELEP at the cutting edge of LEP activity in the UK. The ability to work with others in collaboration and be tenacious and tactful is crucial to the success of this role.
