The United Kingdom (UK) will leave the European Union (EU). Whilst there is little certainty around Brexit there are practical guides to help mitigate the risks and maximise the opportunities of Brexit as well as up to date information about how the UK’s departure will affect businesses and individuals and what to do to prepare.
These guides provide the practical information businesses need to prepare themselves for how and when they need to act ensuring compliance with any changes in law or regulation that will affect them.

Data protection Show

Cabinet Office have provided information for public authorities, businesses and other organisations on the outcome for public procurement policy in the event of a no deal Brexit.
Driving in the EU after Brexit Show
An information campaign is being launched to ensure businesses and hauliers are prepared for the UK to leave the EU. As part of the campaign an email will be sent to 70,000 UK operators, industry bodies and other interested parties detailing essential information for those driving to the EU. If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, hauliers will be required to go through customs checks when exporting goods to the EU from the UK. It is the responsibility of traders to apply and obtain the right paperwork for the goods hauliers are carrying.
The UK Government will also be providing hauliers with a handbook and pocket guide setting out how they can prepare themselves, their vehicles and their goods so that they can continue to travel freely.
The Department for Transport has issued the following guidance:

The Department for Transport and Driver and Vehicle and Licensing Agency have provided updated guidance on the rules for international driving permits (IDP) in EU countries. Check which type of IDP you need to drive legally when you visit Europe here

Trading with countries outside the EU – get prepared, get your EORI number! Show
VAT-registered businesses will be automatically allocated an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number to enable them to trade smoothly once the UK leaves the EU. If your business is not VAT-registered, you still need to register for an EORI number. Getting an EORI number is an easy process that takes 5-10 minutes.
After getting an EORI number, businesses need to decide how to make customs declarations. HMRC has funding available for customs intermediaries, traders and hauliers who complete, or intend to complete, customs declarations following the UK’s exit from the EU. The funding can be used to upskill employees, make IT improvements or hire new employees to manage customs declarations and processes.
The application window is currently open and will close on 31 January 2020, or earlier once all funding is allocated.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have provided details on how businesses can find out if they can register to use simplified transitional procedures for goods being brought into the UK from the EU.

Importing and Exporting Show
HMRC have published statutory guidance relating to Customs, Excise and VAT and Brexit
In the event of a no-deal Brexit, there will be changes to how you export and declare excise goods (alcohol, tobacco and certain oils). There will also be changes to how you import and declare excise goods (alcohol, tobacco and certain oils).
HMRC have produced guidance on what to do in a no-deal Brexit if you use roll on roll off locations to transport goods to the UK from the EU.

HMRC has launched the EU Exit Import and Export Trader Helpline for traders and hauliers importing from / exporting to the EU.
The helpline number is 0300 3301 331. Lines are open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
Preparing for Brexit: events and Government updates
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is issuing a weekly Brexit bulletin with the latest information for business on the UK exiting the European Union (EU). The bulletin will signpost businesses to the tools and resources available to help them prepare for the UK’s exit from the EU.
BEIS also holds regular Business Readiness Forums for trade associations, business representative bodies and business intermediaries. Experts across government speak about the areas that will affect businesses and how best to prepare for Brexit. These forums are available online through WebEx and are held at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in London.
